First inside job fitting the balastThe first inside job for narrowboat builders is to fit the balast in the shell. This is to enable the canal narrowboat to ride evenly in the water once the engine, generators and internal fittings have been installed.

Here we see the balast has been installed and wooden batons attached to the shell to hold the wall cladding.

Floor joists are laid ready to take the flooring material.

When selecting materials for a canal narrowboat refit or build it is important to remember that this is a marine installation and to select the appropriate grade of materials.

This may cost a lottle more at the outset but narrowboat builders installing quality here will save you money in the long term as you will not need a narrowboat refit for many years to come.

Galleon Narrowboats always use prime materials for builds and refits.
